My Deep Dive Podcast For Men Who Want To Learn More:
Dear Men,
Too often, we avoid or mishandle these moments. But what if we could approach conflict assertively—not aggressively or passively?
Steps:
Breathe and Ground Yourself
Stay calm and keep your voice steady. Try box breathing: inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4, exhale for 4.Use “I” Statements
Say how you feel without blaming.
“When you interrupt, I feel unheard because I’m trying to share my thoughts.”Embrace Silence
After speaking, stay quiet. Silence gives space for a real response. Do not feel the need to fill the silence.Listen Reflectively
Repeat their words calmly to show understanding.
“You think I’m being controlling. Tell me more.”Be Patient
Change takes time. Stick with respectful reassertion until solutions arise.
Use the 3-Part Assertion Message:
Behavior: Describe the behavior clearly (e.g., "When you interrupt me...").
Feelings: Express how it makes you feel (e.g., "I feel frustrated...").
Effect: Clarify how it affects you (e.g., "Because I can’t share my thoughts.").
Maintain Your Ground: Stand firm without being confrontational. Practice saying "No" and setting limits.
Handle Pushback: If someone responds defensively, stay calm, and reaffirm your stance.
Pro tip: Stay calm even though they are not. Recognize their emotions but mention that you do not agree with how they are handling the situation “I see you are angry but it is not ok to talk to me like that”
Assertiveness isn’t about winning—it’s about connection. By communicating clearly and calmly, you meet your needs and build stronger relationships.
Let’s lead with strength and respect.
Sincerely,
Mr.Wayne
